Internet at a very high speed of 640 Gbps

World is soon going to move to a fastest possible internet speed of 640 Gbps .... wonder how?

University of Sydney physicists have developed an optical chip that could potentially improve Internet speeds upto 100 times faster than the current network.

  • Uses Chalcogenide glass photonic chips.
  • Based on plain glass and so cheap to produce the chips.
  • Do not have to shell more more for the new technology.
  • Data rates equivalent to transmitting 17 complete DVDs per second! (Unable to believe this.)
  • Chips could be available in another 5 years.
  • Possible first deployment in Japan.
